South Africa starts mass screening for coronavirus
Large-scale testing of the population for the presence of coronavirus SARS- CoV -2 began to be carried out by the authorities of South Africa, according to CNN on April 5. The population screening campaign involves about ten thousand medical workers, who are provided with 67 mobile laboratories for testing in all settlements of the country. The authorities intend to act on the South Korean scenario of combating terrorism COVID-19 isolation and total testing of the population. Doctors have already conducted more than 47,500 tests, but this is a small percentage for a country of 57 million people. The available infrastructure and medical personnel are able to carry out about five thousand tests for the new coronavirus daily by 10 laboratories. When the system is deployed at full capacity, about 30 thousand per day will be processed. Recall, in South Africa there is a quarantine, the execution of which by citizens is controlled by the police and the military. According to Johns Hopkins University, 1,585 SARS- and -2 infected people CoV identified in the country, nine of whom died and 95 patients recovered.
