Caribbean countries have economic opportunities that Indonesia continues to explore, according to the country's foreign ministry. Despite the small population, tens of millions of tourists visit the region every year. Moreover, the average per capita GDP above $5,000 indicates a high purchasing power. The ministry notes that Cuba, the Dominican Republic, the Bahamas, Jamaica and Haiti have great opportunities for exporting Indonesian products. Countries in the region are also almost 80 per cent dependent on imported products to meet their daily needs. Indonesian businessmen can take advantage of these opportunities for exporting food and beverages, cosmetics, hospitality equipment, handicrafts and souvenirs, as well as furniture to the region, the Indonesian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
