Johnson is going to revise the laws because of fear of Russia

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson intends to revise laws on treason, state secrets and espionage due to the danger of so-called Russian interference in the country's domestic policy, The Daily Mail reports citing informed sources. According to them, the law on high treason may introduce a provision according to which anyone who swore allegiance to a foreign state and tries to enter the territory of the United Kingdom or acts directly in the country will be considered a criminal. It is noted that the adoption of these amendments will be the largest change in the law on treason since 1695. The publication notes that the reason for the revision of the laws was the report of the British Intelligence Committee on the alleged interference of Russia in the domestic politics of Great Britain. The deterioration of relations between the United Kingdom and China also played a role. According to the news agency, on July 23, Russian Ambassador to London Andrei Kelin said that the pro-American lobby imposes anti-Russian policy in the British parliament. In his opinion, London will be ready to tighten sanctions against Russia, if Washington is ready to do so.
