Ex-border guards who expelled Saakashvili from Ukraine reported suspicion
The State Bureau of Investigation of Ukraine reported suspicion under the article on abuse of official authority to two former heads of units of the Border Guard Service of Ukraine, who organized the expulsion of former Governor of Odessa region Mikhail Saakashvili from Ukraine to Poland in February 2018. A report of suspicion appeared on February 7 in the press service of the GDB. The source reports that the investigation found that the former head of the Department of Operational Activities of the Administration of the State Border Service of Ukraine and a separate branch of the Administration of the State Border Service of Ukraine organized the illegal detention of Saakashvili and his transfer to Poland in February 2018. Suspects, if proven guilty, face imprisonment for three to eight years, with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions and engage in certain activities for up to three years. In turn, Saakashvili commented on this decision on the social network Facebook, calling it the result of dismissal from the office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine of all odious prosecutors. Poroshenko believed that the laws were not written for him, and, thanks to the authorities, money and TV channels, he would shut down anyone who dared to raise a voice against corruption, but clearly miscalculated, said the former Governor of Odessa region, expressing gratitude to the military prosecutor's office and the GBR. He also expressed hope that the case will affect the main customer (Petro Poroshenko news agency). The news agency recalls that in November 2019, the Supreme Court of Ukraine ruled that Saakashvili was denied recognition of his expulsion to Poland as illegal.
