Potatoes in Dushanbe doubled and sold at 5 kg in one hand
Despite assurances by the Government of Tajikistan that prices for essential goods will be regulated, they still continue to be expensive. About it today, April 23, reports Asia-Plus. Potatoes rose particularly sharply in price: if in the beginning of March in the markets of Dushanbe the cost of 1 kg was on average 4 somoni, now from 6 to 9 somoni. It is interesting that the cheapest potatoes can be bought at instrument fairs, but in a limited volume not more than five kilograms in one hand. For everyone to have enough, the sellers explain. The shortage of potatoes in Tajikistan is attributed to the fact that last year's harvest has already ended and the new one is not yet ripe. At the same time, it is not possible to import potatoes from China and Afghanistan due to closed borders, and the share of potato imports from Russia and Uzbekistan is too small. It is not enough to meet the growing needs of the country's population. Read also: In Tajikistan garlic rose by 160%
