China's coastal areas shrouded in thick fog
China's National Meteorological Observatory extended the yellow level of weather hazard due to thick fog that enveloped coastal areas and parts of the south-west and north of the country, Xinhua news agency reported on May 23. Thick fog envelops the coastal areas of the Lyodong Peninsula, the Shandong Peninsula and the provinces of Liaoning, Hunan, as well as coastal parts off the Bohai Strait and the Yellow Sea, the National Meteorological Center of the PRC reported. Visibility in affected areas will be reduced to less than 1 km. Thick fog is also forecast in northern Liaoning Province and south-west Chongqing, visibility will fall to less than 200 metres. Drivers are advised to reduce the speed of movement in the interests of safety.
