Pork in China fell in price in May due to falling demand
The price of pork in China fell last month due to rising supply and falling demand in the domestic market, Xinhua News Agency reported on June 25. The average price of pork in 16 regions of China at the provincial level, monitored by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of the PRC, was 37.35 yuan (about $5.3) per kilogram in May, which is 13.9% lower year-on-year. The price win was the result of multidimensional actions taken by the Chinese authorities to stimulate supplies, including injecting frozen pork from state reserves into the country's market, as well as increasing imports.
