Toshiba will leave the NAND flash memory market - media

Toshiba, a Japanese corporation, plans to sell its share of computer memory manufacturer Kioxia Holdings. On June 20, it is reported by Nikkei Asian Review, citing industry sources. Kioxia Holdings was established in 2018 on the basis of the Toshiba Toshiba Memory Corporation division. The main area of ​ ​ activity of this company is the production of computer flash memory of the NAND type. This type of memory is used in various electronic devices from smartphones to cars with autonomous control. Toshiba currently owns a 40.2% stake in Kioxia Holdings. According to Nikkei Asian Review, Toshiba plans to sell its stake in Kioxia Holdings after their placement on the Tokyo Stock Exchange. It is expected that the first part of the shares will be put up for sale in October 2020. It is noted that the shareholders of the company made a similar decision due to the high instability of the semiconductor market. As previously reported by the news agency, according to the results of the third quarter of 2019, Toshiba accounted for about 19% of the NAND flash memory market.
