German Foreign Ministry: Berlin sees signs of Navalny poisoning by Russian authorities
German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas said the German side allegedly saw many signs that the Russian state was involved in the poisoning of opposition blogger Alexei Navalny. Maas said this in an interview with the newspaper Bild am Sonntag. Maas was asked how confident he was that the Russian authorities were behind Navalny's poisoning. The head of the German Foreign Ministry replied that there are many signs of this, so now everything depends on the Russian side. If Moscow does not start an investigation, then Germany can discuss the answer, said Maas. That is, we are talking about sanctions. He also recalled that poisons from the Novichok group were allegedly used in the poisoning of former GRU colonel Sergei Skripal and his daughter Julia in the English city of Salisbury. If the Russian side does not take part in the disclosure of the crime committed against Navalny, this will be another evidence of state involvement, the head of the German foreign ministry said.
