The top of Mount Fuji was covered with snow earlier than usual
Mount Fuji, a symbol of Japan, was covered with snow for the first time this season, the Mainichi newspaper reported on September 21. According to observations by residents of Fujiyoshida in Yamanashi Prefecture, the cooling that began on September 19 turned the rain into snow, as a result of which the top of Mount Fuji whitened. The first snow on Mount Fuji in 2019 appeared on October 23, that is, a month later than this year. According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, on average, the first snow on the mountain is celebrated on September 30.
